RICMOND HILL, Ontario, May 22, 2002 - PCI Geomatics is proud to announce that Geomatica(tm) Fundamentals, PCI's earth observation based geomatics solution, has received recognizably high ratings by the Pathfinder 2002 program. Pathfinder is a research project conducted by the US National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) designed to evaluate the capabilities of both Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software products.
The objectives of this evaluation include ensuring that the particular geomatics software needs of NIMA and its customers within the US Department of Defense are being met. This year's topic focused on Multispectral and Hyperspectral Imagery (MSI/HSI) Exploitation Tools. Ratings were given across eleven categories, including Initial Processing and Post Processing/Product Generation and Human Computer Interaction.
This news arrives while PCI Geomatics is commemorating their 20th anniversary as a complete geomatics software solutions provider. While development objectives this year continue to focus on raising customer software expectations, promotional events are planned to recognize the NIMA Pathfinder 2002 conclusion while illustrating the production value behind the newest PCI Geomatics software and customization services.
The Pathfinder 2002 program involved 40 commercial and government vendors submitting 52 candidate tools to the Pathfinder team. Each tool focused on the exploitation of spectral data. 16 tools were selected for the final evaluation, where Geomatica Fundamentals successfully received high ratings across the eleven categories evaluated.
Upon receiving the news, Dr. Robert Moses, President and CEO of PCI Geomatics, was elated. "This recognition is an important milestone. Encouragement of this caliber ignites our desire to stretch even farther, expanding our functionality, adding more fluid design ideas, and introducing even more commercial production capabilities into Geomatica. We're especially pleased with the recognition of the quality of the improved user interface in Geomatica, which was a key objective of our project to fuse remote sensing, spatial analysis, and cartography software."
